P1 Motor Club, The World’s Pinnacle Motorsports Community™, officially launched construction on Sunday, March 10 with a groundbreaking ceremony at its 650-acre Okeechobee Road site. Braving torrential downpours, 40-mph winds, and tornado warnings, 80+ elected officials, community leaders, P1 members, and supporters gathered under shelter provided by Extreme Velocity Motorsports, a future P1 R&D Park tenant.
St. Lucie County Commissioner Kathy Townsend, a strong advocate for the project, addressed the crowd, stating, “I know that you’re going to be an asset to the economy in this community.”
P1 Motor Club, located near Palm Beach and the Atlantic Ocean, will become a world class motorsports destination, offering a unique blend of track experiences, luxury country club amenities, and community engagement, providing significant economic benefits for the region. Upon completion, it will feature over 10 miles of private racetracks, a clubhouse, real estate available exclusively to members, and an expansive R&D park for pro race teams and other automotive-affiliated businesses.
The event, emceed by P1 development partner Adam Fetterman (Fetterman Law), featured speeches from P1 founding partners Ari and Molly Straus, Aurora Straus, and Al Guibord. Pro racer and Harvard grad Aurora Straus was joined by her fiancé and fellow pro racer Kenny Murillo.
“This storm just proves our motorsports DNA – we thrive in the elements,” said Molly Straus.
Ari Straus added, “We are building the premier private motor club on the planet, and we appreciate everyone who helped us reach this milestone.”
“From the moment we arrived in St. Lucie County, Commissioner Townsend and the other commissioners championed this smart-growth project,” said Guibord. “We couldn’t be more grateful.”
Racing legends Brian Redman and Danny Sullivan, whose 1985 Indianapolis 500 “Spin and Win” victory is commemorated on 2025 Indy 500 badges, were among the attendees. Lucie County commissioners Erin Lowry, James Clasby, and Larry Leet, along with a representative from U.S. Senator Rick Scott’s office, also attended, highlighting the project’s regional importance.
